Trip Overview Dhaulagiri Expedition
If you are thinking about visiting Nepal in the month of September of 2014, no trekking itinerary will suit you better than Dhaulagiri Expedition2014. Dhaulagiri Mountain which is also known as ‘The White Mountain’ is the seventh highest mountain of the earth as it stands tall at 8167m. Dhaulagiri Mountain is located to the northwest of the scenic Lake city of Pokhara in Western Nepal. It exists to the south of Nepal and Tibet border. Dhaulagiri is one of the few eight thousanders that is tried by only few enthusiastic climbers each year as Dhaulagiri climbing is challenging expedition. Mt Dhaulagiri has been rightly termed as one of the most difficult Mountain in the world. The bright side is that you will get to walk through nature in peaceful zone undisturbed by the crowd.
Mt Dhaulagiri was first climbed by Austrian/ Swiss team in the successful leadership of Kurt Diemberger in the year 1960. Since then, lots of trekkers have successfully conquered this physically enduring trail.
Dhaulagiri Expedition itinerary 2014 at Alpine Zone Treks is 46-days adventure package. Our main target will be the snow white North East Ridge. There are six possible climbing routes for Dhaulagiri. You will be led by our successful and highly professional Expedition leader. After taking guided city tour in Kathmandu and visiting some of the World Cultural Heritage sites, we will take expedition permit from Ministry and head to Pokhara. We can either take 30minutes of flight or 5hours of bus ride to Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara, we will catch local jeep to Marpha and then our trek begins. We will try the famous local brew made from locally produced apple at Marpha and then walk to Yak Kharka where we can see yaks grazing in the green pasture land. We will enter the hidden valley to make it to Dhaulagiri Base Camp. With enough time for proper acclimatization, we will reach to the Dhaulagiri summit from Base Camp in 20days. After enjoying the mesmerizing views from the summit, we will lower down to the Base Camp and return back to Yak Kharka from where we will return to Jomsom through culturally rich Marpha village. Flight high above Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains will take us to Pokhara from where we will return back to Kathmandu.
Dhaulagiri weather remains windy for most of the time. Spring and autumn are considered best seasons for Dhaulagiri climb. March to May and September to November are best months to climb Mt Dhaulagiri.
