Helambu Region positions itself to the 72 km North East of Kathmandu. If you are thinking of having an easy trek to the land not too far from the capital city yet remote and barely trodden land vicinities, you might perhaps consider joining in Helambu Trek. Our trekking experts from Alpine Zone Treks have devised a 10 day long trekking package into the enchanting Helambu belt which smoothly juxtaposes cultural trekking with nature viewing. Helambu Region positions itself to the 72 km North East of Kathmandu whose upper section is inhabited chiefly by the tribes from Mongolian origins that include Gurung and Sherpa, who are known collectively as Hyolmos, the natives in Helambu. Helambu Trek is an exquisite yet brief trekking package that is prolonged by the woods of oak, pine and rhododendron at Shivapuri Nagarjuna National Park famous for bird watching where several species of animals including red pandas, pika, musk deer, Thar, Himalayan Black Bear, Ghoral, and Langur wander.
Helambu Trek commences with a pleasant drive to Sundarijal. The path then ascends across Shivpuri ridge through the terrains of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park that positions itself amid the central hills of the northern facet of Kathmandu Valley stretching itself in an area of 144 square kilometer. The topography allows the sweeping vista of the Central Himalayas including the Shivapuri Himal. The trek then escalates through the Tamang villages of Gul Bhanjyang and Tharepati to Melamchi Gaon prior to descending the hill sauntering down the highland village of Tarkegyang and Sermathang, where diverse species of rare wild flowers and animals can be spotted. The trek ends with a dip in sparkling water of roaring Melamchi River and a drive back to Kathmandu.
Helambu Trek provides unmatched trekking experience to prospective trekkers aiming for cultural trekking in brief time span as it consists of several Highland Villages to the North East of Kathmandu Valley. Helambu Trek is a moderately strenuous trek, which can be taken by anyone who loves trekking. No prior trekking experience is necessary for this trek.
